MulticoreWare’s MILAAP 2024 convened key customers for conversations focused on technology, sustainability, and mutual growth
June 27, 2024MulticoreWare hosted MILAAP ’24, a thought provoking session on New Computer Architecture and its software ecosystem, on June 13th, 2024, in Bangalore. The event was attended by representatives from key customers.
Soumendra Mohanty, Chief Revenue Officer of MulticoreWare, extended a warm and gracious welcome to the guests, expressing his gratitude for their presence and emphasizing the importance of their participation in the event.
Dr. John Stratton, CTO of MulticoreWare, delivered the keynote address titled ‘The Great Architecture – Ecosystem Disruption? Opportunities and threats to a more diverse ecosystem’. He stated that, from the architecture-agnostic design of languages like C, C++, and Java to modern machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, we’ve pursued ecosystems of open competition for the best applications and the best platforms to run those applications.
If we believe that open ecosystems are indeed beneficial, we will have to address the fundamental challenge of software portability, and look to examples where this has been successful. The MacOS ecosystem was able to migrate between PPC, x86, and ARM through effective binary translation technology support. The 3D graphics rendering ecosystem centered around open (or at least collaboratively shepherded) standards such as OpenGL, DirectX, and Vulcan. If we want similar ecosystems to develop in other areas, we will have to invest in collective support for portability tools and standards that will enable them. The keynote was followed up by a panel discussion with eminent persons from the following companies at the event: Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, Ola Krutrim, TVS Motors, Rackbank and MulticoreWare (John Stratton). Participants from Renesas and BDM Cloud Solutions were also present. The panel discussions were moderated by AGK Karunakaran, President and CEO of MulticoreWare.
AGK began with an opening address and introduced the panel members. He said, “With the unwavering support of my team, we have built a phenomenal organization. Today, I am proud to say that outside of the respective core companies, we have established a platform-agnostic approach, as highlighted by our focus on microarchitecture awareness. This forms the backbone of our efforts. It’s crucial for us to spread the message about what we can achieve in this evolving world of platforms. Various waves of technology have shaped the industry, particularly in India, where our contributions to technology and software development have a significant global impact.
Across various vertical markets, whether automotive, mobile computing, server computing, cloud computing, or applications in smart cities and smart health, the computational workloads are intense. Today, we aim to foster a healthy dialogue among our panelists, discussing their experiences and the ways they impact the world individually and through their companies.”
The distinguished speakers from the technology and business sectors engaged in a lively group discussion. Many customers emphasized the need for the software stack to be totally open sourced to ensure fair competition among hardware vendors. However, in reality, this is not yet the case. Increased usage of the open source stack can alleviate the burden of supporting mixed heterogeneous architectures.
Soumendra Mohanty concluded the event with an inspiring speech, highlighting the key takeaways and thanking everyone for their valuable contributions and engagement throughout the day.
