MulticoreWare drives innovation at Annual R&D Symposium with Kalasalingam University, strengthening Academia-Industry collaboration

June 11, 2025

MulticoreWare held its annual R&D Symposium in collaboration with Kalasalingam University (KLU) on the 7th of June 2025. The event highlighted MulticoreWare’s commitment to bridging academia and industry through its MAGIC (MulticoreWare Academia Global Innovation Centre) program.

With over 200 attendees, the symposium brought together faculty and students from various engineering colleges. The participants engaged in dynamic discussions on next-gen technologies, explored research collaborations, and discovered career-boosting opportunities.

The event commenced with a lunch and networking session. Shashikanth Jayaraman, CHRO & CoS of MulticoreWare, delivered the welcome address.

Addressing the occasion, A G Karunakaran, MulticoreWare’s President & CEO, stated, “The vision of academia-industry collaboration was born alongside our co-founders at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign—innovation is in our DNA. That’s what inspired MAGIC. Today, I want to share with you my 3 C’s—lessons that have guided me. Firstly, collaborate relentlessly. We work with academia and our MAGIC clusters, sharing knowledge to grow together. Secondly, commitment is important to your goals and execution. Without dedication, results remain out of reach. Thirdly, continuous learning is a very important cultural aspect at our company. With AI tools and language models, there’s always something new to explore.”

His insights paved the way for an inspiring keynote by the esteemed Chief Guest, Dr. Sridharan, Chancellor, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE).

Dr. Krishna Vedula, Founder of IUCEE and Guest of Honour for the event, emphasized, “Teaching must evolve to be dynamic—because when we transform how we teach, students truly learn. A revolution needs to happen. While traditional deductive teaching focuses heavily on theory, fundamentals, and equations, we often fail to connect these concepts to real-world applications. But even that isn’t enough. By giving real world examples along with fundamental examples, we ignite curiosity—empowering students to ask questions, think critically, and deduce solutions themselves.”

Attendees were then treated to a visionary technical keynote by Dr. John Stratton, CTO of MulticoreWare, who explored the topic “Entering the 2nd Golden Age of Performance Engineering”.

The symposium featured distinguished guests on stage, including Subramanian Emarajan, VP of Engineering at MulticoreWare, Suchithra Thyagarajan, VP of Corporate Marketing at MulticoreWare, and Dr. A. Ramesh, Principal of Chennai Institute of Technology.

Dr. S. Suprakash, Director of Industry Relations at KLU, and Dr. A. Parivazhagan, Professor at KLU, were instrumental in ensuring the smooth organization of the event.

The agenda featured presentations from research clusters and the distribution of the MAGIC Awards, celebrating outstanding contributions. The event concluded with a networking session over tea and refreshments, offering participants the perfect opportunity to reflect on the day’s ideas and forge new connections.

The MAGIC lab at Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE), established in Aug 2022, focuses on Multi-Modal Sensor Data Fusion Algorithm Development, AI Algorithm Development for Pedestrian Behaviour Prediction & Gesture Recognition and Advanced Video Encoding Solutions.
